Commissioning of Management Studies for critical forest ecosystems of the country

The General Secretariat of Forests approved the Proclamation for the award of eight (8) contracts by the Hellenic Forestry Fund, for a total budget of 1.944.711,97 euros for the preparation of management studies in areas of Central and Southern Greece (19 Forests – Forest Complexes) affected by recent fires, in order tomeet the urgent and urgent need for the timely preparation of management studies in areas under the responsibility of the Forestry Departments:

  • Kapandriti,
  • Penteli,
  • Egaleo,
  • Parnitha,
  • Megara,
  • Livadia,
  • Vytina,
  • Tripoli,
  • Pyrgos and
  • Olympia

in view of the 2024 summer season, given that the study areas are critical ecosystems, with the existence of destructive fires in the recent past and the existence of a high degree of natural regeneration – with a high density of vegetation, thus requiring immediate management for the recovery of the ecosystem and the prevention and avoidance of negative destructive consequences of fires and other hazards.”

The above contracts include forests such as the Parnitha National Park, the Eastern and Western Mainalon etc.

The tender, which is carried out under the exceptional negotiating procedure of the articles on forest cleaning, maintenance of fire protection zones, etc., is open to an equal number of Category 24 consultancy firms and the deadline is 7 months.

Finally, it should be noted that these management studies will be prepared using the existing Technical Specifications (1965) and not the expected new ones, as pilot studies, as originally announced.
